How is WPM calculated?

Most tools normalize words to five characters including spaces; gross WPM ignores errors while net WPM penalises mistakes.

Should I look at the keyboard?

Touch-typing practice removes glances — cover keys with a box lid during drills.

Are mechanical keyboards required?

No — consistency matters more than switch hype, though ergonomics reduce fatigue.

Why accuracy matters?

Bragging-rights WPM is useless if every third word needs backspace-heavy fixes.

Daily training volume?

Short focused sessions beat rare marathons; three ten-minute runs build muscle memory.

Switch OS keyboard language so statistics reflect real workload.

Competitive integrity?

Paste cheats or automation distort scores — honour system keeps leaderboards meaningful.

Keystrokes stay in-page; nothing trains cloud models by default.
