What is the difference between character count with and without spaces?

With spaces includes every space, tab, and newline. Without spaces counts only visible characters — useful for Twitter limits and password fields.

How are UTF-8 bytes calculated?

Each character is encoded in UTF-8; ASCII uses 1 byte per character, while accented or emoji characters use multiple bytes. The counter sums the bytes of the full encoded string.

How does line count work?

Lines are split on newline characters. An empty input counts as zero lines; a single line of text without a trailing newline counts as one line.
